When you've been married for a long time, it can be easy to let go of the passion in your relationship, typically because the lack of time and energy. However, spending time and going out with your spouse doesn't have to be difficult. All you need to do is some planning and both of you need to put in some effort.

If you aren't sure what it is you'd like to do, start by writing down all of the things you both enjoy doing. Going on a date doesn't just have to be the typical dinner and a movie, you can do anything you want. If you both like reading, go to a library and look for book clubs you can join or go for a picnic under the stars. It's very important that you enjoy what you're doing because if one of you doesn't enjoy it, than you won't want to continue going on dates.

If money is an issue, there are plenty of dates you can go on without spending a lot of money such as going for a walk on a nearby beach or again, a picnic under the stars is cheaper than you'd think. It's understandable that money might be a problem since you'll probably have to pay a babysitter to watch the kids while you're out on your date.

Plan ahead. Since you have busy schedules and children that you have to work around, than it's important that you plan your dates in advance. Choose a night that works best for both of you and then start thinking about what you are going to do. You need to think about what your going to do ahead of time so you can start thinking about how long you'll be gone and who would be best to watch your children for that amount of time.
